Karachi Walk-in Clinic Opens its Doors

Ahead of our Karachi Hospital launch in 2024, we’ve opened our Karachi Walk-in Clinic to start supporting cancer patients in need.

Karachi is Pakistan’s largest and most densely populated city. It is also plagued by extreme poverty with up to 40% of the population living on less than 80 pence a day. We’ve had a presence in Karachi since 2010 when we established the Karachi Diagnostic Centre and Clinic. It was already providing radiology, pharmacy and oncology services.

Now, the Karachi Walk-in Clinic at the site of our new hospital has increased our reach and capacity. It will also help to raise awareness about cancer and cancer prevention. Presently, Karachi has the highest incidence of oral cancer in Pakistan and cancer of the gastrointestinal tract is also rising. Our new hospital, which will be the largest in Pakistan will make a huge impact.

We can already see the need at our clinic, which has been very busy since the doors opened. Our medical team is consulting with patients to screen and evaluate those with a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of cancer. This is the first step of being accepted into any of our facilities for treatment. Patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis and evaluated according to approved medical guidelines.

Cancer treatment can be prolonged and extremely costly, impacting not only the patient but the whole family physically, psychologically and financially. The launch of our Karachi hospital will go a long way towards easing the burden of patients and giving them hope. With a hospital closer to home, they will no longer need to make costly trips to our other hospitals.

With your support, we’re bringing world-class cancer care to where it’s needed most. Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Karachi is scheduled to open in 2024. We’ll be bringing free cancer care to the doorstep of the people of Karachi, Sindh and Southern Baluchistan.

With as many as 200,000 new cancer diagnoses in Pakistan every year, our existing facilities are stretched to their limit. Our Karachi hospital will become a lifeline to thousands of poor people. We need your help now more than ever.
