While the media is rife with stories about the enemy outside, how about the rise of cancer –the enemy we face within? At a time when governments spend more on arms and weapons of mass destruction, shouldn’t somebody be investing in equipment that saves lives?

At IKCA, we believe in saving and building a world that supports life. Over the past two decades we worked with like-minded supporters to build two hospitals where the world’s poorest could reclaim their right to live. But to continue fighting cancer, we need the right equipment. Hospital equipment, which can help us diagnose, treat and support cancer patients through their battle with cancer.

When Shaukat Khanum Hospital (SKMCH) in Peshawar first opened its doors at the end of December 2015, it was only partially completed. Still we had a chemotherapy bay with 6 beds, and were able to offer chemotherapy from the outset. Also functioning were the Outpatient clinics, Inpatient rooms, an Intensive Care Unit, and an Emergency Assessment Room.

From then on it was a steady build up. By April 2016 we were able to offer CT scans, MRI scans and Fluoroscopy. All thanks to the generosity of everyone who donated towards this vital equipment. But still there’s so much that our hospitals need, and SKMCH Peshawar has some way to go before it is functioning at full potential.

The opening of SKMCH Peshawar has increased our patient intake by 50%. To cope with the rising numbers, we need your support to speed up the process of equipping the hospital.
