Munawar Ahmed’s Loch Ness Marathon for IKCA

Munawar Ahmad will be running for IKCA this weekend at the Loch Ness Marathon!

Munawar is a British Pakistani living in Inverness. Happily married with 4 children, Munawar is self-employed and owns a small bed and breakfast in the Northern Scottish town, and home of Nessie.

“My father died of prostate cancer in Pakistan, which is why this cause is close to my heart,” Says Munawar. “I especially respect Imran Khan for all his efforts for the Pakistani people, and would like to contribute to his efforts by doing this run for IKCA.”

When asked why he chose to IKCA as the charity of his choice, Munawar had this to say, “I’ve been a long time donor and supporter of the charity. This is the first time I will be fundraising for cancer patients in a marathon, so IKCA was a natural choice.”

Last year, Munawar took part in a 5K Marathon and did a half Marathon this year in March with a finishing time of 2 hours and 15 minutes. “I wasn’t very confident as I have two leg injuries,” Munawar explains, “but I will grit my teeth and do it anyway.”

For training, Munawar approximately runs 25 to 30 miles a week and tries the 8-mile a day with intervals of 2-mile fast runs.

We wish Munawar the best of luck on his run!
