Meet Our Patients: Nabila Robin

“I have completed active treatment for breast cancer and now I am on follow-up care.”

Nabila Robin and her family were shocked to receive news of her cancer diagnosis. They were understandably concerned about her health but were also very worried about how they would afford the cost of treatment. She was referred to Shaukat Khanum Hospital, where they were not only given hope for her recovery but were also told that her treatment would be completely free. This is thanks to the generous donations of Sadaqah and Zakat we receive from donors all over the world. We caught up with Nabila during one of her follow-up appointments.

It’s great to see you looking so well, Nabila. How is the treatment and recovery process going?

“I have completed active treatment for breast cancer and now I am on follow-up care. I am doing much better thanks to the treatment I’ve received at Shaukat Khanum Hospital.”

That’s wonderful news. What do you think has helped you most in your fight against cancer?

“It is important to develop a support system for patients fighting cancer and address any stigma associated with it. My family has been very supportive throughout my cancer journey, especially, my husband.”

How did you find the care received and the facilities at our hospital?

“We arrived for treatment during Ramadan and witnessed the same level of dedication and care for all patients, regardless of their financial status, as during any other month. Nothing else matters here – not money, time of year, whether you’re young or old, or rich or poor. Everyone receives the same standard of care, all year round.”

Yes, that’s what we are always aiming for. Any last comments?

“I want to raise awareness amongst the public that cancer is curable and that early detection, diagnosis, and timely treatment are essential. Together, we can save lives.”

Thank you, Nabila, for your time today, and especially your commitment to raising awareness about cancer and its treatment.

Nabila and her family are eternally grateful to our donors, whose Zakat and Sadaqah contributions saved her life. Click below to see how we use your precious Zakat and Sadaqah contributions. Donate now.
