Jamal Tariq raises over £15,000 through Vodafone
IKCA volunteer, Jamal Tariq is a Vodafone employee based in Derby. In July 2012 Vodafone launched a ‘JustTextGiving £100 challenge’ internally and Jamal signed up for that with the aim to support Imran Khan Cancer Appeal as he lost his uncle to cancer the year before. He has since been our most charismatic and enthusiastic fundraiser.
Jamal had an initial target of £100 set by Vodafone but he always thought that he can achieve a lot more and ended up generating £15,400. This was the highest sum raised by an individual or group fundraised in Vodafone. Jamal organised different events which included a Samosa/Cake day at the Rolls-Royce and HP premises. He prepared a comprehensive presentation for IKCA and presented to Vodafone and Rolls-Royce Staff. He also organised a fundraising day at the Comet superstore which was a great success with an amazing awareness and a healthy donations. A Charity Football Tournament was also organised for the cause where winners were proudly presented with charity tea shirts.
He has been announced one of the winner of Vodafone’s ‘World of Difference’ scheme where he would volunteer for IKCA for 2 months but will get paid by Vodafone. Volunteers like Jamal make great contribution in our fight against cancer and provide a hope of life to the underprivileged.
