Khwaja Nazir Ahmad: I joined IKCA 18 years ago. Today I'm Senior Manager of Media & PR at SKMCH.

“ I’ve been around long enough to have witnessed many of our biggest milestones and achievements over the years.”

I’m the Senior Manager of Media & PR at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH.) I joined Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA) and SKMCH 18 years ago. So I’ve been around long enough to have witnessed many of our biggest milestones and achievements over the years.

I was here when Lady Diana and other international personalities came to see our work; and when we received the WHO award. All of this publicity was invaluable towards raising awareness of cancer in Pakistan. But the most amazing things which happen here, happen every day, outside of the limelight.

So many lives have been saved over the years. Our patients and their families continue to pray for the hospital’s ongoing success; for the staff; and for Imran Khan, who was behind it all. I feel proud to be part of the SKMCH team, and part of such a unique institution. We’ve set a standard in providing healthcare without discrimination, and free of charge to nearly 75% of our patients. There is no other hospital, the world over, who does what we do.
