About the Walk
The walk will commence at 9.30 am, and our meeting point will be the Bolton Abbey car park. This will be a circular walk. We’ll set off from near the Priory Church, taking the time to explore the Augustinian priory ruins, in their riverside setting, before going on to cross several bridges over the Wharfe.
We’ll then commence our journey through Strid Wood. This majestic wood is home to a myriad of wildlife including roe deer, otters, kingfishers and greater spotted woodpeckers. Here, we’ll also see one of the largest remnants of sessile oak trees in the Yorkshire Dales.
Finally, our route will take us across Barden Bridge before returning down the other side of the Wharf, and back to where we started.
